Shock!
This week in class we learned about the effects of cultural shock. Mr. Sal explained how when you put a goldfish into a new environment it cannot just automatically start swimming. It takes awhile for one to understand and adapt to a culture that they are unfamiliar with. People look at different cultures and think that it is strange to do the things they do, but it is completely normal to that culture. Which brings me to material culture. Material culture is how a culture uses things. For example British people use a fork and knife differently then Americans. I used to look at cultures differently before class this week. I would look at people and wonder why they are wearing what they are wearing, or why they do things a certain why. For example on my day off of school i thought it was so strange for some of the Jewish people to walk around town instead of driving, even though it was raining and cold. Our country is all about diversity and you have to learn to put yourself into someone else's shoes.people are the way they are for a reason, learn what that reason is.

you used really good examples like jewish people walking instead of driving and the british using fork and knives differently. This also made me realize not to be so quick to judge!
