What shapes us?

In class this week we watched the movie A Bronx Tale. The movie relates to the thought that people are shaped by their in-groups. For example C or aka Calogero in the movie must deal with the many troubles he comes across because of the groups he belongs to. Calogero's father begs him to stay away from the gang life and that the working man is what he should look up to; however, Calogero also looked up to Sonny who was telling him that the working man wasn't all that special and that he should take a different path in life. Calogero also had his friend group attempting to pull him into the tough guy act that they all played. Calogero is shaped by all the different groups because he has many different influences. He has many different groups telling him to do things that were completely opposite of the other groups opinion. Calogero is much like my life. Between my friends, family, and the several other groups I'm involved in outside of school, they all create influences and shape the life I live. For example my family is one of my in-groups that teaches me to live with certain life values as oppose to my friends who may not have all the same morals as my family.
