Silence.
Silence is known as any absence of communication. It can be both awkward and peaceful. Silence can become uncomfortable when engaging in a conversation with a stranger or somebody that you don't know very well. People fill the silence with pointless conversation when talking to people they don't know very well. It affects our ability to be listeners because when asking the pointless questions to fill the air, not many people are actually listening. However, when it is silent around people we know it is never awkward...or at least it never is for me. An awkward silence cannot exist around the people you are comfortable with because either the conversation keeps going because you have a lot of the same interests or conversation is not necessary to fill the silence. Silence can become peaceful around the people you know. I can see how I have been trained to expect certain things from the first day of class because ever since I have been enrolled in school I have always been taught what to do and when to do it. Our society is programed and expected to respect our elders and to do what is asked of us. It is considered weird and chaotic at times when the adult of the room is not conducting and controlling the room.
